Human Rights

For the African continent to develop, it should pursue a human right centred approach. The African Union has institutions that have the mandate for the protection of Human rights in Africa. These include the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights (AfCHPR), AU Commission on International Law (AUCIL), AU Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC) and the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACERWC). GLAFAD will work with like minded organisations and the African Unions department of Political Affairs is responsible for promoting, facilitating, coordinating and encouraging democratic principles and the rule of law, respect for human rights, participation of civil society in the development process. GLAFAD will We direct its advocacy towards governments pushing them to change or enforce their human rights obligations.
